My book is no longer a stranger

Ok guys, I just finished reading up to page 50. To be honest nothing has quit happened, but I'm not bored of this book yet, for some reason it intrigues me. It is for that same reason that i like this book. Its been a while since I opened a book, and actually enjoyed the words that I read. No wonder it won, the Man Booker Prize and is now a major motion picture. From what i have recently read, the narrator is going into more detail about his past. I learned that the main characters name wasn't originally Pi, it was Piscine. He changed it because his classmates used to tease him too much. I also learned that Pi, is quit a religious boy. For me this foreshadows what may happen in the future, considering that it is known that he will be stranded in the ocean. Perhaps he will look to religion to help him through the hardship. Another aspect of the book that i can foreshadow about, is when Pi's father brings him to tigers cage, and shows him the danger that the zoo holds and although it may be fun, it is quit dangerous. Other than that Pi, is just speaking of his past.

Chapters 1-5. Getting used to my book

Life of Pi, seems to be a relatively new book that has gained much popularity over past couple of months. To be honest, I am not a big fan of reading. So when I heard that my teacher was making us read a book, for our SAT Verbal class, I took hold of the opportunity to test this book out for myself.  The fact that many of my friends told me that the movie was excellent, made me want to read it even more. As they always say, "The book is always better than the movie."

From reading the first few pages of my book, I can infer that it does not seem to be bad at all. It seems like this is one of the few books, that I am going to enjoy reading. In the first 5 chapters (20 pages), the narrator describes his early life in India, and gives the reader a vivid image of his childhood growing with his father owning a zoo. So far nothing has quit happened yet, we are just learning about the narrators past.
